About Maria Zemantauski: Ms. Zemantauski is one of the few touring female flamenco guitarists in the world. This exciting style of guitar is a traditional Spanish art form, and features dance rhythms and percussive flourishes in additional to a fiery musical approach to the instrument. Maria's recordings of original and traditional compositions have won her considerable national acclaim, both as a player and as a composer of flamenco-style music. In addition to being a performer, she is also a frequent lecturer on music, culture, and gender ideology in the flamenco art form. She lives and teaches in the Albany NY area.

Maria is a terrific guitarist, but she also is one of those rare performers who really exudes a presence and warmth, and she has drawn standing ovations in the past when she performed for us. This will be an extra special evening...
